But even looking at it skeptically, there is a mountain of promising early research that indicates CBD is a powerful antioxidant, anti-irritant, and anti-inflammatory. What is CBD? And where does ABC’s come from?
CBD is a type of cannabinoid, one of hundreds of naturally occurring compounds in the Cannabis sativa plant. Our CBD is hemp-derived and non-psychoactive, meaning it’s THC-free and will never get you high—no matter how much you slather on. (Sorry about that!)
Why topical CBD?
We talk a lot about the power of plants over at ABC, and cannabidiol is a huge example of why. CBD interacts with the body’s natural (aka, you were born with it) endocannabinoid system to promote healing naturally. It calms itches, relieves pain, and reduces inflammation and redness—all without any psychoactive side effects. These hydrating, itch-fighting, calming properties are why we made it the hero ingredient in our pen, designed especially for tackling bug bites and dry patches. We also use it in our natural bug spray, to soothe and calm skin (not two verbs we typically associate with bug spray…). Early research even suggests CBD could even be a substitute for the skin-thinning corticosteroids typically used on eczema and psoriasis. Although more research is needed, this is another reminder of how many applications this compound has—and why our pens are both natural and powerful.
Do all your products contain CBD? No!
Although we’re big believers in the power of CBD, we also believe no one ingredient is a miracle solution to everything.
